In a surprising collaboration that defies conventional predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Uncovered

According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of prohibited practices and terrifying transformations reverberate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden cult.

The questline centers on "peculiar trials and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Iconic Places and Metamorphoses

The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Content

Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana alongside several objects concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Update

This update also adds the game's latest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
